DR. GUTMANN GIVES INSIDER THE SKINNY ON DIET AND FERTILITY
So you want a cheeseburger. And a donut. And even though it’s late afternoon and you’ve already had two cups of coffee, you’re craving a third. We all have cravings, and sometimes our diet is not top of mind. But when it comes to your fertility, you may want to pay close attention to your food intake.
While there is no magic superfood that will help every woman get pregnant, and more research is necessary to make stronger links between diet and fertility, there are some changes women looking to get pregnant may want to think about making right away.
For example, you could consider limiting your caffeine and trans fats intakes and adopting a Mediterranean diet full of plant-based foods, whole grains and fish. If you are overweight, slimming down could make a big difference, especially for women with certain reproductive conditions.
To get the skinny on the link between diet and fertility, read doctor Jacqueline Gutmann’s comments to INSIDER on what to eat when you’re trying to conceive.
